Soft Parade

v
iolent winds

and turbulent seas

left our fairy penguins

struggling to breathe

their tired wings

wore wounded feathers

frozen by the storm

testing the tiny creature’s

natural resilience

and vigilant rescuers

lined the blustery shores

nurturing the survivors in need

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Pass the tissues, please.
That any creature is hurting or feels pain or danger breaks my heart. 😦 People say to me “They are JUST animals…circle of life…”and etc…but that doesn’t change my feelings. I feel great sadness.
I’m so glad these amazing, magical, beautiful creatures you write about were helped/rescued! 🙂
Your title, photo, poem, and music are perfection, Ivor!

    1. Yes. … I was greatly saddened too Carolyn. … hence my little story. .. however my heart was ‘softened’ by the caring attitude of the local rescuers. .. the photo is from a FB article about the penguin’s plight during last week’s horrendous storm. ..
Sigur Ros’s music suited my mood for the situation … and I hope my words depicted my feelings
