Sogginess Sets In

Sogginess Sets In

Old soggy soft toys

Once cuddled with joy

Outside hanging around

Tears caress vacant sounds

Searching for the tenderness

Of yesterday’s missing fondness

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Oh how sad! Reminds me of Mother Shiptonโ€™s cave where the toys have been hanging so long they have turned to stone ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Love Paul Simon, with or without Garfunkel ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Great photo by Derrick! He captures the most interesting, amazing, and beautiful sights! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I know those soggy toys will dry out…they won’t let a bit of sogginess keep them from their adventures! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€ And I imagine them there bringing smiles to the faces of all who pass by. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aw. Your poem is sweet and poignant. But, YOU are not soggy and YOUR book is not soggy. Your words are genuine and important and help to positively transform anyone who reads them.

Come on B&N…Get on the ball! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      2. And now I am in bed already at 9.00pm.. my tiredness is approaching .. earth, wind, and fire, are now motionless … and the old poetโ€™s notebook is mindless …
        Time to read W B Yeats ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ“š

  3. I love this and I love Derrickโ€™s photo of the soggy toys. They looked so sweet when they were first hung. I agree with Ingrid, Mother Shiptonโ€™s cave and the petrifying well in my neck of the woods (Knaresborough North Yorkshire) was my first thought when I saw them over on Derrickโ€™s page. ๐Ÿ™‚
