No Longer For Hire

Fellow world warriors

When climbing life’s slippery spire

Follow the slopes guiding wires

And once atop the mountain of lost desires

Paint a sign. “I am no longer for hire,

I have survived earth’s wind and fire,

beyond where the rescue ladder expires,

there in the universe’s highest garden-shire

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Enjoy the beauty at the top…enjoy the garden-shire…you earned it…you deserve it!
The song is a perfect pairing…and guess what?!?!
    “…Ooh, in this darkness
    Please light my way
    Light my way…”
You, and your poems, do this for so many people, Ivor! You light the way! Thank you! 🙂
