A Random Kingdom

Sometimes we put pieces away

Because our emotion altered next day
But the thoughts are there to stay
And arise again to be an honest display

The whispering wind is an elusive creature

And is mother nature’s operatic music teacher

Her sculpturing hands of life
Are our world’s palate knife

That damn old clock never stops

Not even for a pause

To chat with Santa Clause

Even the sundial shadow

Works every tomorrow

But there will be a day,

When love will be here to stay

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. This one impacts my heart deeply, Ivor. And you’ve paired it perfectly with the music/vid.
(I always click on the music and listen while I read your poems. Often the two together bring the tears. 🙂 )
    PS…Keep Flying, Tullawalla!!!

    1. I chose the incredible Sigur Ros song after I wrote my poem and I think the video’s powerful imagery went hand in hand with the expressive imagery of my words … I really appreciate your tying my poem to the music 🎶 your comments have warm my heart ❤️ thank you Carolyn 😊🌏😃

  2. beautiful music Ivor, carried me away to a place of calm and serenity. love your opening line, we become so good at sorting every thing in our lives , even our most deepest emotions get shelved for later.

    1. Thank you Gina. .. yes .. I always try to have a strong/interesting line, which is important to grab the reader’s attention.
Oh that song from Sigur Ros is so thought provoking .. and definitely suited the theme of my poem 😊🌏🎶😎
