Decades of Storms

The storms have been unfolding in the sky this week, so I thought this poem from book “Tullawala, was quite appropriate for today ..

Decades of Storms

Over the decades

I’ve lived through many storms

Yesterday

I read about an Atlantic island storm

After midnight

I had a dream about my life’s storms

At dawn

I shall open my door to the storms

I will then wait for my storms

To vacate the dark

And ask the morning sunlight

“Am I still the pilot”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Yes, you are still the pilot. The pilot has been tested before, by storms and mechanical failures of his craft and sundry other problems, but never has he wavered. That is why he is still alive to appreciate life. In the end, the pilot’s best friend is his auto-compass, which will show him the way home.

  2. Nature’s storms and the storms in our lives…we weather them and keep moving forward. 🙂 Thank goodness for the sun and those calmer-waves-days. 🙂
Often The Pilot has to rely on the GPS. With our life storms, thank goodness for our friends, helpers, ETC! 🙂
A grand emotion-evoking poem, Ivor! And that song/vid is so beautiful! (((HUGS))) 🙂
