An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Intertwined
“After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on – I have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear – what remains? Nature remains.” ― Walt Whitman
Intertwined
Why are we deaf and blind?
How can we be so silently unkind?
Nature is not our kitchen to be redesign
Mother Earth is our holy shrine
Our one and only protective rind
All we need, is her love intertwined

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Our one and only protective rind…..love that line. Walt Whitman got it right. Too bad that mankind didn’t pay attention. Thanks for this timely message.
So very true! Such a powerful and poignant messages in your poem!
The photo and song/vid are great companions to your poem.
It’s so sad how badly and carelessly “Our one and only protective rind” is treated. 😦

I’d rather my poem was the opposite way around Carolyn, but it’s important that we maintain the awareness about the plight of planet’s deterioration 🌍🌏🌎💛💚💙
We as humans, need to learn to respect nature, or, nature will come back around, and BITE us all on the asses, just look at the increased incidents of “natural” disasters of earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, cyclones, typhoons that had happened in the past few years…

Yes indeed … nature’s recent fury is a foreboding tip of the iceberg of what nature is capable of in the future
