Intertwined

“After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on – I have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear – what remains? Nature remains.” ― Walt Whitman

Intertwined

Why are we deaf and blind?

How can we be so silently unkind?

Nature is not our kitchen to be redesign

Mother Earth is our holy shrine

Our one and only protective rind

All we need, is her love intertwined

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. So very true! Such a powerful and poignant messages in your poem!
The photo and song/vid are great companions to your poem.
It’s so sad how badly and carelessly “Our one and only protective rind” is treated. 😦

  2. We as humans, need to learn to respect nature, or, nature will come back around, and BITE us all on the asses, just look at the increased incidents of “natural” disasters of earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, cyclones, typhoons that had happened in the past few years…
