New Mushrooms

After the storm

Old boundaries were transformed

Fences were moved and torn

Fields smelled of rotting corn

Patient vultures remained airborne

Above the drowning longhorn’s

After the storm

I rested under the peppercorn

And I saw new mushrooms rise with the dawn

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thanks Ingrid … maybe my positive words evolve from my plumbing days … from working hard digging trenches, laying the pipes, then backfilling the hole, smoothing the site out, and everything works and looks ok again … !!

  1. Collectively and individually humanity has been weathering many storms. Many have answered the call to heroism, service, and innovative solutions. Good things can come from challenges. What a beautiful and thought-provoking poem, Ivor! Lovely image of the mushrooms. ❀
