A Path To Parity

Over at “Weekly Prompts”, the Wednesday Challenge prompt is; Halloween … please visit their fabulous site by clicking >> Here … my poem below is in response to their prompt ‘Halloween’ πŸŽƒπŸ˜Ž

A Path To Parity

I am but a tiny pebble on the ocean floor

But I see the universe above and wonder. β€œIs there a door?”

How do I draw shiny dots between those black lines

Am I able to pluck a star from the column of time

One that I can paste in my next worldly rhyme

About finding truth under the grand statue of mime

I wish I had the Almighty authority

Then I would burn the guns of tyranny

And ignite the dormant torch of liberty

So everyone could find a path to parity

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. OH, gosh, Ivor! This one touched my heart and soul! (Pass a tissue or hanky my way.)
You have captured so profoundly exactly what the world needs! I remember a day, when I was a little girl, when people talked, and sang, about the world needing “love…sweet love”…and that was true…but it seems people have put love by the wayside…replaced it with selfishness, power-hungriness, greed… and this has caused such disparity, injustice, unfairness. 😦
Karliene’s song is a perfect pairing with your poem.
