Flying Behind aMask
I’m on the flight to far away lands
Chatting to a lady beside me, Sue
She’s a fellow poet too
A member of the Canberra Writer’s
I’m a long long way from home
Travelling back in time
Already two hours behind
Jetting my way to ancient China
To visit the old Forbidden City
Palace of bygone Dynasty’s
Then I’ll walk upon The Great Wall
Feel the ghostly bones beneath my toes
Who’s to say dead fish don’t fly
I’m eating Barramundi and bamboo sauce in the sky
Watching Nick Cave performing on screen
His spectacular concert in Copenhagen
Sipping on a Wolf Blass red wine
I’m relaxing and flying high

Indeed it was quite surreal for me Beth .. It was my first flight ✈️ out of Australia, and China was another world away for me. .. and a 10 hour flight to Beijing .. 😊🌏

Oh! What wonderful amazing memories in poem! 🙂 I imagine when you read this poem it takes you “flying” back to those experiences! And the title is even more interesting on this side of 2018. 😷

Mr Cave’s music video was played at least 4 times on my flight to Beijing , which was first ever flight
overseas out of Australia … an unbelievable experience for … but it gave me the confidence to tackle the huge flight to New York and Philadelphia ✈️😊🌏

That wearing of the mask seems prescient…I’ve only done long haul once in my life, but you captured the excitement. I so love travelling, but hate flying ✈️
