Ironically or coincidently, after re-posting several poems from my hospitalisation time three years ago … I suddenly found out that I am to be back in hospital for a short stay during the week … but I am only going up to level four, not that far from the ground floor, and within a short walk to the front door …
A Sudden Change of Plans
Early on Friday
I received a phone call
From the Geelong hospital
Informing me that my elective surgery
Was unexpectedly moved to be on next week
Then suddenly
Early this morning
Under the precautionary health guidelines
I was sent to be tested for the βCovidβ virus
And now I am in home isolation
For the next three days
Prior to my left elbow surgery
Early Wednesday morning
If everything goes according to plan
And all being well
I should be home
Early Wednesday evening
Ivor Steven (c) November 2021
I hope all goes well with your elbow surgery, Ivor. Oh, my goodness such a coincidence. The hospital looks very modern and new. π

Itβs very good hospital Sue. .. and I know it very well .. the elbow surgery is relatively minor compared to having strokes πππ

The hospital experience can be a sobering one, for sure. We enter wheeled in from the paramedics’ van, rumbling down the beige hallways with their calming colors, and enter the emergency ward, where we realize that we’re in trouble — trouble.

I was having sharp electrical pain in my wrist from typing so much! A physical therapist friend told me it was coming from my elbow. I started using pillows under my elbows and have had no problem since! Wishing you well my friend!

I need cataract surgery and have been waiting a very, very long time. I decided a while ago I could wait no longer – my eyesight is restricting my life. I’m booked in to see a private specialist next week and will pay up front. It would be incredible if a miracle happens and I get a letter from the hospital in the mean time. Good luck with your surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery time. π
