Today on Weekly Prompts the Wednesday challenge is: CHRISTMAS DINNER. Please visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here. .. and my poem ‘Christmas Lights’ is in response to their prompt …

Christmas Lights

A year of standing alone

Without the normal crowd

Talking to no one

Silence was far too loud

Shut in and locked down

Disinfected and scoured

Months of writer’s cramps

An elbow’s old nerve soured

Numbness travels to hand

Dumbness seemed to be allowed

December’s faltering days

Turned into Christmas lights

And a New Year causeway

Seems to be within sight

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. It IS within sight, Ivor! Your photo and poem is wonderful! Let’s all hope together that 2022 will be a betterer/bestest year…and we will do positive things to help it be so! 🙂
That is a spectacular tree! I love the lights at Christmas time so very much…and all the natural trees, wreaths, flowers, etc.! People here often decorate a live tree and then plant it out on their property after Christmas is over. 🙂
Season’s Greetings to you and Sir Frankie! 🙂
