An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Winter Snails (a Haiku)
Photos: Please note, that all the “Snail” images here on this post, were taken by Derrick Knight, who at my request, kindly delved through his many years of Archives, especially for this article and I am sincerely grateful for his generosity and diligence.
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

What superb snail photos! The close-up details are great! YAY for Derrick! π
Snails are fascinating to watch. I love the slow silvery shimmery trail they leave behind them π
π π π They are like, “Yep, that’s where I’ve been! Yep, I’m moving forward!” π π
And yay for autumn leaves and winter sun!
Beautiful poem, photos, and music trio, Ivor!
(((HUGS))) π
Thank you Carolyn β¦ I love how snails π are always home for dinner on time .. no matter where their journey takes them π¦¦ππ β¦ and the wonderful Derrick went back βdecadesβ of his files to find the photos for me .. So my post here is one to treasure and Iβll be framing the article to hang up in my verandah gallery ππΌπππ€
We never saw snails here until we renovated the house and part of the garden, I swear they were brought here with new soil or turf etc. Derrick’s images are as usual just brilliant, but I don’t like snails.
Much appreciated, Ivor. Cheers, my friend

I don’t mind a snail or two, but friends go apoplectic if they spot just one.

If they were French they may have just eaten them. π

That’s why they carry their houses around with them. In case of any changes in the weather. π

I don’t see living small things.
I see escargots and boiling pots.

Itβs those trails I don’t like. Though I probably squirm at anything that crawls along the ground!
