Waiting In Line

Waiting In Line

lazing in a valley of vines

under the summer sunshine

with a bottle of Idyll wine

drank in no time

dandy and sublime

heeds no rhyme

beyond an imaginary climb

along the river of time

that awaits a final line

after life’s closing pantomime

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Ingrid .. you are totally right with your summation of my poem .. yes a bit whimsical but with a bit of seriousness .. the finality of life through my interpretation of the vines waiting in line in nature’s valley of light 😊🌏🌞

  1. Oh, this poem turned out so wonderful, Ivor! And the photos, poem, and song trio so “sweet, balanced, distinctive, earthy, full-bodied, a beautiful bouquet”…and more. πŸ™‚
Human beings, and our circle of life, and our some-day-passing is like the growth from seed to seedling to vines to grapes to wine. πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah … you have captured the essence of my poem exactly Carolyn … I’m no philosopher, but the story of life is there in front of us every day through nature’s perpetual glory
