An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Fruit Loopy
Early July 2017, my blog/website was only 3 weeks old when I wrote this abstract poem, ‘Fruit Loopy’ … hmmm … and I am not sure what my thoughts were at the time … but I had only been in my new little abode for 5 months, and I was finishing off building the verandah, and starting to create a courtyard garden … I suppose I was “dreaming” about how much Carole would have loved my new home, so hence the “funny title”
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

“Dreaming of today and clambering for tomorrow” really got me. Usually we dream of tomorrow and hustle for today. Made me stop and realize we do this.
I’m more of a soft fruit freak. When they’re in season, my brother takes me to his allotment and we pick tons of raspberries, blackberries, redcurrants and so on (and veg). I love my big bro xx
That’s beautiful, we had fruit trees at mum and dad’s, apricots, peaches and pears, and a wonderful big loganberry vine, and loved climbing and picking the fruits, absolutely the bestest of memories….. xx
Yes, the fruit-loopiness of life. π Wonderful poem, Ivor! It is filled with vivid images and emotions. Beautiful heart-toucher.

Great song choice…Melanie’s voice is so beautiful! Yes…”heaven is so far”…or it seems so. I always liked the line “clouds were my friends”…I’ve felt that way my whole life. π
(((HUGS))) π
Yeah for Melanieβs sweet voice of emotional innocence .. πΆ and I suppose my poems dream was emotionally innocent too .. Thank you Carolyn π€πππΆ
My daddy used to say he could taste the plums from the blossom on his plum trees – this really made me smile. Thank you for the happy memory, I needed that
