Rolling On By (Revised)

I wrote this poem while I was on a Pacific cruise to the New Calendonian Islands, in April 2018. We only had one rough day, but that managed to influence me enough, to pen this dreamy piece that night …

Rolling On By

I am swishing and swirling

splashing and crashing

up and down

I am thrown aground

stumbling around

swaying under her calming horizon

she soothes my rough landing

caresses my awakening eyes

dazed, I knowingly smile

and watch her wings wave goodbye

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. We had one stormy, rough day. The very day we had a booking at the a la carte restaurant at the very top. It was so rough my husband had to hang onto the table to stop his chair from sliding across the floor. However, it did not stop us enjoying our meal !
