An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Lost, Without a Compass (I’m lost for words)
Here is a poem I wrote 2 years ago after Trumps devisive and undemoncratic tactics during his USA election campaign … but “today” for a different invasion of “injustice” my poem seems to be appropriate again ….
“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.” Nelson Mandela
“If you want to improve your quality of life and the quality of life for all women, never stop questioning society or calling for change.” Justina De Pierris
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Thank you Ingrid … the ‘other’ half of democracy has got it wrong again … “inequality and injustice” has been inflicted again .. the world is spinning backwards again ….
Yep … man is free to do as he pleases … hmmm … laws for females only … don’t worry girls, it looks like the loveboat is sinking anyhow , women and children first, and there will never enough liferafts left for the ‘two-headed’ men ..
I remember this powerful poem, Ivor. And it pairs so well with Helen Reddy’s song!
I encountered a woman about 7 years ago while on a road trip…while we were stopped for gas fill-up and a potty break, Coop and I were taking a walk around. She saw little Coop and asked if she could pet him. I said Sure! and we sat down to talk. I said to her then, I feel like, very sadly, the world is going backwards in every way that counts. 😦 And now these years later it seems like things are going even more backwards, even more rapidly. 😦
Unclear on all of the reasons why…but I wonder if it is because so many people think of themselves first and don’t think of the world, other people, the future of the planet, children, etc. Selfishness can destroy all of these and is not healthy for the people who are being selfish. 😦

I worry for a ‘democracy’ which thinks it can remove the rights of half the population…

I wonder who will look after all of those unwanted children?

It won’t be the children’s fathers … they have already done a runner …

Sadly my poetic words seem to be fairly accurate .. and our so-called justice systems still have a lot of room for inprovement

Who could have guessed things would descend to such treachery when you first penned this. Still relevant!

I am heartbroken and outraged at the same time. Yet, I will not give up taking action for change.

So sad that the relevance continues…I’m feeling like it always will. Changes need to be made.

This feels like this is the moment where everyone has to get involved at all levels of government. And know who you’re voting for.
