Sad Old Sky (a Senryu)

Like the Ukraine war itself, being disconnected from any peace process .. I deliberately constructed my poem without any conjunctions

Sad Old Sky (a Senryu)

Hard rain strikes again

Awakening old tired eyes

Sad sky falls to ground

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us, Ivor. It’s a heart-toucher.
Your photo, your poem, and your song choice are powerful and important.

PS…I am amazed how quickly the world goes back to the unimportant stuff when it’s a known fact that people are still suffering, war still rages on, racism is rampant, the planet is crying, children are starving, families are torn apart, disease spreads, and so much more. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
