Old Ground

Along the cracked track I walk

Always in the same direction

But today I was discombobulated

I did not know the difference

Between east or west

Or whether I was moving up or down

But then

I felt the world

Rumble under my feet

There in every blade of grass

I could hear

The earth’s heartbeat

A soft sobbing sound

Of the lost children

Resting under ground

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Aw…so so SO sad. 😦 😒
Powerful poem paired with Derrick’s photo! You two make a good team!
And that song always gets me right in the heart.

    1. A wonderfully powerful song that is even more poignant in today’s β€˜war-zone’ .. I’m not sure how many collaborations me and Derrick have done. … I showed my publisher our β€œPerceptions” booklet, and she said the concept was excellent and she wants to help me produce a glossy photo/poem book πŸ“• .. yep .. my next book has now STARTED πŸ€—πŸŒπŸ“•πŸ˜βœοΈ

  2. Those poor children. Stolen from their families, tortured, sexually abused and then murdered by the catholic church. The children in ukraine, children everywhere. Horrible what humans do.
