The Sunflower’s Renewal (a Tanka)

There beside the path

A robust green stalk appears

Renewal is here

Nature’s reclaiming her crown

A sunflower tall and proud

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. AW! YAY for the sunflower growing! 🙂
We get birds dropping seeds in our yards and we get sunflowers “planted” and growing that way! It’s fun and beautiful! 🙂
Your poem and photo and that song are powerful and heart-touching, Ivor.
Yes, nature shares peace and hope if we take the time to notice.

    1. Thanks Carolyn … Sir Frankie found the sunflower 🌻 on our morning walkie .. so I took a photo and last night I wrote the Tanka … oh that Ukraine song 🎶 was visually very moving and understanding the language wasn’t necessary to feel the meaning of the words 🎶🎶💕🌏🤗☮️🌻
