A Handy Aid

old father time

has caught me

on the hop

my annoying limp

has become more pronounced

as of tomorrow

I shall be shuffling

down the street

with a walking stick

in the left hand

and my doggie

pulling my right side

to balance me up

with assurance

a handy aid

to help reduce

my chronic back pain

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Life takes on quite a journey! Youโ€™re handling things with grace and ease. Weโ€™re so lucky we have aids like canes. I may need one too at some point considering my orthopedic issues. At least the cane isnโ€™t needed for writing poetry! ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒบ

  2. Itโ€™s frustrating isnโ€™t it, having to give in when you we really donโ€™t want to.
I hope the walking stick helps to ease your pain and Iโ€™m sorry youโ€™ve suffered the discomfort. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. These things that we are, experiencing, these, ailments of our, bodies, are merely, time’s way of telling us, to slow our lives down, or, we will, crash, and, if we don’t heed tine’s, advice, then, we will, pay, dearly for it.
