A Sad Winter Flame (A Tanka)

In May this year, I attended an Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop at the Foundry Studio & Gallery. Today’s Poem/Tanka is another piece I wrote from that day, and which I have not posted on my site before now.

A Sad Winter Flame (a Tanka)

Dismayed, how to stop

Leaning against the hard rain

Unseasonal pain

Sodden, a sad winter flame

Downtrodden, a stained Ukraine

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you dear Carolyn … one of those pieces i had stored away … and I am not sure why, … I suppose I absentmindedly forgot about it … ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒ๐Ÿถ

    2. Dear Ivor,

I concur with Carolyn! Your lovely poem is very timely.

Also, thank you for sharing the YouTube video. The music is somewhat hypnotic, though also quite repetitive.

May you and Carolyn find the rest of 2022 very much to your liking and highly conducive to your travelling, gardening, writing, reading, thinking and publishing whatever topics that take your intellectual fancy and creative whim!

      Take care and prosper!

      Yours sincerely,
      SoundEagle
