Pending, Not Pretending (a Tanka)

The storm’s naked clouds

Wore two shades of gloomy grey

Enshrouding nature’s

Latent thunderous outburst

An electric light display

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Ivor, what a magnificent poem! An exquisite tribute to the power and beauty of the storm! ❤ The sounds of the storm and rain on the roof are music to me.

Our big brave dog and the cat too hid under the bed during thunderstorms. Does Frankie do the same? 🙂

  2. OOH! I have experienced some storms exactly like you describe in your wonderful poem! Nature’s symphony performance…heavy on the drums and the strobe lights! 😉 Ha! 😀
OOH! And I so enjoy Mr. Mercury singing! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂 ❤️
