The Universe Below

The Universe Below

Here, on top of the mountain

I am looking down

Upon their granular hill

I kneel on the ground

They take no notice of me

Too preoccupied and busy

The industrious workers

Carrying morsels of food

And the dutiful army

Diligently protecting the colony

Hiding in the catacombs’

Universe of tunnels and caves

There, nesting within the earth’s milky ways

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Oh … no way … I have no church, no religion, ..
        “I don’t own much
        I don’t owe much
        I share what I have
        I have hope and love
I see the universe in a blade grass”

What a wonderful poem, Ivor! What an honor it is for us to watch nature “from above”. 🙂
Makes me think of an old old old song… 🙂

“Next time you’re found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around…
Just what makes that little old ant Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant Anyone knows an ant, can’t Move a rubber tree plant…
But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time you’re gettin’ low ‘Stead of lettin’ go Just remember that ant…Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant!” 🙂
