My photo of, “Richard the Lizard, a wise and withered Wizard”

Schoolyards and Lizards

Enter Richard the lizard

A wise and withered wizard

Who stealthily slithered and delivered

His magic beyond pandemics and blizzards

Recreating a safe haven

An unsmeared and inured schoolyard

To be shared by the children

Without the National Guard

MILES FROM HOME

written by: Ivor Steven

@ivors20

Today
I went left, instead of right
No matter what direction
Or decision I choose
At the end of day
There will be night
My time to rest
And remain out of sight

Tomorrow
I shall take the back roads
Miles away from my troubled life
Miles and miles
Beyond those evil eyes of strife

Tonight
I will sleep under the stars
With my loyal companion
By my side

Now
He gives me that inquisitive stare
“Don’t look at me like that
I know mate, I know
I should never have left the wife”

Rivers Of Love (a Tanka, with an introduction quote)
Written by, Ivor Steven

How many rivers of tears must I cry. Before all the deepest wells run dry”Ivor Steven, May 2012

The hail’s coldness stings
An old wind pierces my eyes
As yesterdays tears
Etch raw ravines in my cheeks
Her rivers of love run deep

A huge thank you to the editors at Spillwords, Dagmara and Rebecca, who guided me through to produce this interview.

SPOTLIGHT ON WRITERS

IVOR STEVEN

@ivors20

  1. Where, do you hail from?

I was born and raised in Geelong, Victoria, Australia (the southern part of the continent, an hour south of Melbourne), and I am still a resident of my home town, having never moved more than 5km away from my parents’ house.

  1. What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?

Geelong is a city beside the bay, and only 30 minutes away from the picturesque Bellarine Peninsula beaches, and the famous South Coast surf beaches. If I was to be reincarnated, I am sure I would come back as a dolphin.

  1. What turns you on creatively?
