Above The Surface

Inside my creative head

Blooms my minds flowerbed

Nurturing stories not to be misread

I see a pot of sapphire dust and water

The old wizard’s wondrous recipe

And drop by drop the magic potion

Rises beyond a soothing lotion

Above the cloudy clouds cotton wool

My empty sails are only half full

And my mystical galleon ship is drifting

Upon a pool of uncharted writings

Becalmed, I’m listening to a romantic viola

And waiting for a guiding tow from her golden gondola

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you dear Carolyn…. I’ve lots of mixed emotions this week… it’s now 20 years since I suffered my first stroke….. a terrible time for us…. our love for each other, was then being stretched beyond the limits of what was humanly possible to withstand… Carole’s courage under her circumstances was truly incredible……. . I’ve been working today… It’s time for dinner, and I’m so tired…. xx

  3. Ivor – this is lovely! You’ve really painted a calming picture here – soothing potion lotion and a gondola ride. Even if it’s floating away, we could just relax and enjoy the ride. I hear your resilience and positive attitude in your words here. You are a survivor!
